But, till 1992-93 he could not succeed in getting a remarkable production. Later with the able guidance of the Fisheries Department he established one Chinese type circular hatchery complex. At present he has been able to produce 100 lakhs of spawn and 5 lakhs of fry annually and over 1000 kg of fish earning over Rs. 1.5 lakhs from a farm area of 1 hect. Fishery & Animal Resources ( Success Stories ) Keonjhar Milk Union Hatisila is one of the villages near Deogaon of Anandpur Sub Division. The village remained unnoticed and the women member were inspired when they knew about the benefit and object of Women Dairy Cooperative. Previously they were selling milk outside, they stopped supplying milk to vendors and formed society of their own with participation of 54 members. Out of 54 members 13 beneficiary have availed margin money @ 5000.00 and purchased the cow. They are repaying the amount timely. Now procuring 100 liters of milk per day with good quality fat & SNF the members are managing their society very smoothly. Their cooperation proves examples for others and they are also motivation nearby beneficiary to form society. Really that society is an ideal one. ~~*~~

Panchayatraj ( Success Stories ) District Rural Development Agency DRDA, Keonjhar has funded Government money to ASCO, Keonjhar for implementation of one Watershed Development project named Kuladera Nalla on EAS grant out of Soil and Water Conservation component, during the year 1995-96. Its project period has already been over and handed over to villagers of Jhadbelda and Nelung under Sadar P.S. This Watershed work is worth mentioning for its successful implementation. ~~*~~
Panchayatraj ( Success Story ) District Supply & Marketing Society (a)Advance leaf-cup-plate making Keonjhar district in Orissa is known for its predominate forest cover which has been depleting very first in the recent past. The economic of the areas is forest base. Collection of monor forest produce is the main occupation of the people. The rural mass in the district have been stitching the Sal and Siali leaves into plates and cups for so many years sale those to the local brokers who in turn sell those products through different channels. The bottom line is that the producers earn the lowest of all benefit about six hundred per month. However to give maximum benefit and profit to the producers ORMAS" (DSMS) has identified advance leaf-cum-plate machine which not only improve the earnings of minimum Rs.2000/- per month but also we will enable them to form their groups for their Economic empowerment and sustainability. In this regard already some groups of Ghatgaon and Banspal block have taken training of advance leaf-cup-plate making where first the leafs are stitched (Sal & Siali) by swing machine and then LDPE(Polythene) and card board is used for preparing Buffet plate 250 leaf plate per house can be prepared by single skill operation. These Buffet plates are of hygienic quality and used for social purpose like Marriages, other functions which has a lot of demand and outside the State. ORMAS has also made marketing tie-up with outside agencies for marketing these leaf cup-plates to give maximum profit to the producers. In this regard DSMS, Keonjhar has already supplied advance leaf cup-plate to the agencies (ACI), Hyderabad and to other district. DSMS has identified other groups for advance leaf cup-plate trade to be assisted under New Scheme of SGSY. (b)Packaging Development of Spices, Pickles, Bodi There are many groups in the district who produce spices, (Chillipowder, turmeric Powder, Dhania, Jeera etc.), Pickles, Bodi of good quality. But due to poor packaging these products are not available. DSMS, Keonjhar has developed better packaging in the name of GONASIKA brand and Bottling of pickles for better selling. Tie up has been by DSMS, Keonjhar with local and outside markets for selling of spices, Bodi and Pickles. ~~*~~

By June'2000 he has got already got an income of Rs. 2,353.00. It has been programmed to rear a total 750 dfls. and produce 350 kg. of cocoon with an targeted income of Rs.30,000.00 including mulberry cutting cost. He has been assisted with a million well during 1998-99 and a pump-set by Panchayati Raj Department . Textiles and Handloom Department has also assisted a chowki rearing house @ Rs.20,000.00 to Sri Dhanesware Naik so that he can prepare the chowki worms and distribute to the farmers of his village there by increasing his income. With increased income due to adoption of sericulture as his livelihood Sri Dhaneswar Naik is happy man now. ~~*~~
Textile & Handloom( Success Story ) Textiles The weavers of this district are not traditional skilled weavers and most of them belong to S.C. and S.T.category. They are conversant to weave coarse count of cloth which faces stiff market competition with power loom products.
